ROCKFORD TAKES TWO OF THREE IN WEEK 15

Week 15 Recap
The IceHogs rebounded after a disappointing 5-1 loss Friday night with a 6-0 shutout of the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday to split the weekend in Week 14. Week 15 features a three games slate, including two at the Rockford MetroCentre against the Houston Aeros on Wednesday and Texas Stars, Friday. The Hogs will also hit the road Saturday to take on the West Division rivals Chicago Wolves, at the All-State Arena.

Bacon Bits:
-Hannu Toivonen picked up his second 1-0 shutout of the season on Saturday, making 32 saves against Chicago

-Rockford has been involved in three 1-0 games this season and is 2-1-0-0 in those contests

-Combined with Alec Richards two shutouts, Rockford has four overall on the season after posting two all of last season

-Toivonen has given up two or fewer goals in seven of his last eight outings and one or fewer in six of eight dating back to 12/15/10

-During that eight game stretch, Toivonen is 5-2-0-0 with a .950 SPCT and a 1.34 GAA

-Rockford’s win in Chicago on Saturday marked just the fifth win at the Allstate Arena for Rockford in 21 games, including the postseason

-Kyle Beach, who had the lone tally in Saturday’s 1-0 win, is riding a four-game point streak, totaling 3g-2a-5pts

-The IceHogs begin Week 16 two-games over .500 for the first time this season

-Rob Klinkhammer failed to convert on Rockford’s second penalty shot of the season on Saturday against Drew MacIntyre

-MacIntyre is the first goalie to face two penalty shots against the IceHogs as he stopped Rockford’s Pete MacArthur on 3/27/10 in Chicago’s 3-0 win at the MetroCentre

-The IceHogs have converted just two of their 10 penalty shots during its AHL era

-The IceHogs penalty kill unit has not allowed a power play marker in Rockford’s last two contests (0-11) and just one in their last four (1-15) for a kill percentage of 93.3%

Hot Hog: Week 15
Hannu Toivonen Goaltender
Goaltender Hannu Toivonen helped Rockford take two out of three games in Week 15, including a 1-0 shutout on the road against the Chicago Wolves on Saturday. Toivonen turned away 29-of-30 shots faced on Friday against Texas to earn the 3-1 win, his eighth on the campaign. The Hattula, Finland native followed Friday’s performance up with his second shutout of the season in a 1-0 blanking of the Wolves at the Allstate Arena. The net minder stopped 61 pucks on 62 attempts to earn a save percentage of .984 and a goals against average of .50 in Week 15.

Upcoming Games:
Monday, Jan. 17 vs. San Antonio Rampage: Game time is 3:05 p.m. The IceHogs host Blackhawks Day presented by the Rockford Register Star when the Rampage return to the MetroCentre. Current Blackhawks Corey Crawford, Jake Dowell and Jake Skille will be signing autographs from 2-2:45 p.m. and during the first intermission. Friday, Jan. 21 vs. Oklahoma City Barons: Puck drop is at 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs and Barons match-up for a fourth time this season and second at the Rockford MetroCentre. The first 2,500 fans to the game will pick up a pair of IceHogs Fleece Gloves courtesy of Ferrell Gas and ESPN 1380 AM.

Saturday, Jan. 22 vs. San Antonio Rampage: The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. For the second time during Week 16, the IceHogs and Rampage meet at the Rockford MetroCentre. Saturday is Pink in the Rink night at the Rockford MetroCentre. To go along with pink ice, the IceHogs will be wearing pink jerseys that will be raffled off. The first 2,500 fans will recieve a commerative Pink in the Rink T-shirt courtesy of Rock Valley Federal Credit Union, T6 Broadband, Guerilla Graffix, Q98.5 and WREX.

No Bud Light Hog Talk Tonight At Swilligan’s Pub:

Bud Light Hog Talk returns to Swilligan’s Pub on Monday, Jan. 24. Swillgan’s Pub is located in downtown Rockford at 200 North Church St. Fans can join Mike Peck from 6-7 p.m. most Monday’s as he chats with IceHogs players, coaches and front office members. Stop by and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials. If you can’t make it, tune into 1330 AM, WNTA.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:
Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular-and post-season games on the Hogs’ flagship radio station, Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK. Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with AHL Live! Visit the IceHogs Web site (icehogs.com) and click on the “click here to watch the AHL Live” icon, and for just $7 you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer. Also, fans with Comcast Cable television in Rockford can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action at the MetroCentre this season. All Saturday home game will also be televised on My Network TV digital subchannel 17.2 along with Comcast and Charter Cable channel 16.
