ROCKFORD SIGNS CIAMPINI AND VISENTIN

Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs have announced that they have agreed to terms with forward Daniel Ciampini (CHAM-pee-nee) and goalie Mark Visentin (VIHS-ihn-teen) on one-year American Hockey League contracts for the 2015-16 season.

Ciampini, 24, spent the 2014-15 season skating with Union College of the Eastern College Athletic Conference. In his final season with the Dutchmen, he was a point per game player recording 50 points (26g-24a) in 50 collegiate games finishing one goal shy of Union College’s single season record. Upon completing his college career, Ciampini appeared in 15 games with the AHL’s Worchester Sharks and recorded six points (3g-3a) in 15 games last season.

In four overall seasons at UC, Ciampini complied a total of 118 points (63g-55a) in 131 contests, including a frozen four championship his junior season. Before starting his college career, the 5-11 winger skated with the St. Michael Buzzers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League where he put up 200 points (89g-111a) with 42 of those goals coming during the 2009-10 season alone.

Visentin, 22, missed the entire 2014-15 season due to injury, the goalie spent the majority of the 2013-14 season with the AHL’s Portland Pirates winning 14 games and making his NHL debut with the Phoenix Coyotes later that season. In parts of two seasons with the Pirates, the net minder tallied a 29-30-0 record to go along with a 3.11 goals against average and a .902 save percentage in 75 games.

The Waterdown, Ontario, native previously totaled an 89-55-0 record, along with a 2.94 GAA and a .906 SPCT in four seasons with the Niagara IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League. In the 2010-11 season, he was named the OHL Goaltender of the Year and was in net for Canada at the 2011 World Junior Championships. He was second in the OHL in GAA (2.52), save percentage (.917), and shutouts (4) that season.

Visentin was originally selected by the Coyotes in the first round (#27 overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
