ROCKFORD ROUNDS OUT ROAD TRIP IN GRAND RAPIDS

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Rockford IceHogs wrap up a six-game road swing with a matchup against the Grand Rapids Griffins at Van Andel Arena Saturday night. The IceHogs are 6-1-0-0 against the Griffins this season, but dropped their last meeting on Jan. 5.

Puck drop is at 6 p.m. and fans can tune in to all the action on Cozi TV 23.3 or Dish Network Channel 252, beginning with IceHogs Warmup at 5:30 p.m. IceHogs fans can also listen to the game at sportsfanradio1330.com or watch live at AHLlive.com (subscription required).

Matchup: The IceHogs (22-15-2-3, 2nd Central) jumped into second place in the Central Division and stretched their point streak to seven games with a 4-3 win over the Cleveland Monsters Friday night.

Forwards Matthew Highmore and John Hayden, as well as defenseman Adam Clendening, each posted multi-point efforts in Friday’s win over Cleveland. Hayden and Highmore found twine in the third period to spark Rockford’s comeback, and Highmore now ranks tied for second among AHL rookies in goals with 18 markers in this campaign.

Goaltender Matt Tomkins earned his first AHL win with Rockford’s victory, turning aside 32 of 35 shots in just his fourth start with the IceHogs.

Grand Rapids (20-18-1-4, 6th Central Division) won its fourth game in its last six contests Friday night in Milwaukee, defeating the Admirals 5-2.

Forward Matthew Ford recorded his team-leading 16th goal of the season as well as an assist in that win, while fellow forward Eric Tangradi potted a pair of tallies and now has four goals in as many games for the Griffins. Netminder Tom McCollum earned his sixth win on the season with a 29-save performance.

The IceHogs take on the Bakersfield Condors on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The contest marks another Fas Fuel Winning Weekday in 2017-18.
