Week 16 Recap
With seven out of a possible eight points, the Rockford IceHogs cruised to their best week of the year in Week 16. The Hogs head into the All-Star Break with a 4-0-0-1 point streak on their hands. They currently sit in second place in the West Division and turn to face Peoria and Grand Rapids in Week 17.

Bacon Bits:
-Rockford went 5-2-0-1 in an eight game stretch over 12 days leading into the All-Star Break

-Rockford leads the AHL with 47 games played at the break

-Rockford’s three leading goal scorers, Mark Cullen, Kyle Greentree and Jack Skille, all scored first period goals on Friday and Sunday and are tied for the team lead with 15 tallies

-The IceHogs are six games over .500 for the first time this season

-Rookie defenseman Brian Connelly set an IceHogs AHL rookie record with 20 assists on the season, surpassing Skille’s 18 assists in 2007-08

-With their win in Grand Rapids on Sunday, the IceHogs improved to 3-0-0-0 at Van Andel Arena this season

-With their shootout loss in Peoria on Saturday, Rockford fell to 0-2-1-1 at Carver Arena in 2009-10

-Since the Christmas break, Rockford is 8-3-0-2

-The IceHogs are outscoring its opponents 47-35 in the first period this season

-Rockford recorded a season-low and matched a team AHL record with one shot on goal in the second period on Friday in their 5-1 win over Houston

-The shot was by Richard Petiot and resulted in a goal

Hot Hog Week 16:
After coming back from injury, IceHogs goalie Corey Crawford has helped backstop the IceHogs back into second place in the AHL’s West Division. Crawford went 2-0-0-1 in Week 16. The Hogs goaltender began the week with a 24-save win over Houston on Wednesday and came back with a 34 save performance in Rockford’s 5-1 win over the Aeros on Friday. On Saturday Crawford helped the IceHogs earn a point with 36 saves in a shootout loss at Peoria.

Upcoming Games:
Friday, Jan. 22 at Peoria Rivermen: The Rockford IceHogs pick up on the other side of the All-Star Break with a trip to Central Illinois to face the Peoria Rivermen for the final time at Carver Arena in 2009-10. The puck drops at 7 p.m. It is the sixth of ten meetings on the season.

Saturday, Jan. 23 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins:
The Hogs welcome the Grand Rapids Griffins into the Rockford MetroCentre for a 7:05 p.m. start. The first 2,500 fans will pick up an IceHogs fleece blanket thanks to Lonnie’s Carpet Max.

Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular and post-season games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK.
