ROCKFORD RECALLS MATTSON FROM INDY
Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced that they have recalled defenseman Nick Mattson from the ECHL’s Indy Fuel.
Mattson, 24, has appeared in three games with the IceHogs this season, including his AHL debut on October 30 against Iowa. He scored his first professional goal in his last game with Indy, tallying on Jan. 30 versus the Evansville IceMen. He also has 11 assists, and a +6 rating in 36 games with the Fuel.
The Chanhassen, Minn. native advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four with the University of North Dakota in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, and totaled 17 goals and 61 assists in 153 career games with UND over four seasons.
Mattson was drafted in the sixth round (#180 overall) by the Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Next Home Game: Friday, Feb. 5 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins at 7 p.m. The IceHogs return from the AHL All Star break with the first game in a home-and-home weekend series against the Griffins. It's "White Out" night at the BMO Harris Bank Center as fans are encouraged to wear white while the first 2,500 fans through the doors will receive a white IceHogs t-shirt courtesy of Toyota.
