ROCKFORD RECALLS BARNES FROM FUEL

Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks, announced on Monday that they have recalled right wing Tyler Barnes from their ECHL affiliate, the Indy Fuel.

Barnes, 26, appeared in three games with the Fuel since his assignment to Indy on Dec. 6, recording two assists against the Brampton Beast on Dec. 7. The 6-0, 198-lbs. forward has played in ten games with Rockford this year, totaling four points in a three-game point streak (2g-2a) from Nov. 23-26. He signed an AHL contract with the IceHogs prior to the start of the 2016-17 season.

Before joining the IceHogs, Barnes spent the majority of each of the last two seasons at the ECHL level with Missouri (2015-16) and Toledo (2014-15). The Burnsville, Mich. native collected 135 points (58g-77a) in 140 games between the two clubs, and was named the 2014-15 ECHL Rookie of the Year with 74 points for the Toledo Walleye, setting a franchise record.

Barnes also skated for the University of Wisconsin from 2010-14, notching 101 points (45g-56a) in 152 games for the Badgers.
