ROCKFORD REASSIGNS MATTSON TO INDY
Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the 2015 Stanley Cup Champion Chicago Blackhawks, announced that they have reassigned defenseman Nick Mattson to the ECHL’s Indy Fuel.
Mattson, 24, has appeared in four games with the IceHogs this season, including his AHL debut on October 30 against Iowa. The blueliner picked up his first career AHL point, an assist, in Saturday’s game at Grand Rapids. He scored his first professional goal in his last game with Indy, tallying on Jan. 30 versus the Evansville IceMen. He also has 11 assists with the Fuel in addition to a +6 rating in 36 ECHL games this season.
The Chanhassen, Minn. native advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four with the University of North Dakota in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, and totaled 17 goals and 61 assists in 153 career games with UND over four seasons.
Mattson was drafted in the sixth round (#180 overall) by the Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
Next Home Game: Sunday, Feb. 14 vs. Grand Rapids Griffins at 4 p.m. Rockford faces off against Grand Rapids again on Valentine’s Day. The meeting will round up a set of three contests between the two squads in 10 nights.
