Hogs can't carry momentum over from Saturday night’s win

Rockford, Ill.- The IceHogs brought home the big win on Saturday, but couldn't follow it up with two in a row on Sunday as the Hogs fell to the Peoria Rivermen 4-3 at the MetroCentre.

Both teams took advantage of penalties in the contest. Of the seven goals between Peoria and Rockford, five were on the power play.

The scoring started with a power play goal from Julian Talbot at 8:06 in the first period. Charles Linglet and Micki DuPont had the assists.

The IceHogs responded with a goal from Derek Nesbitt at 15:44 with assists from Martin St. Pierre and Troy Brouwer to tie the score at one.

In the second period, Mike Glumac put Peoria up 2-1 with a goal at 3:55. Martin Kariya and Linglet had the assists. Nikolay Lemtyugov tacked on another power play goal at 12:19 with assists from DuPont and Kariya.

Justin Fletcher scored his first goal since being reassigned to the IceHogs last week. It was a power play marker at 5:01 in the third frame. Kris Versteeg and Nesbitt had the helpers.

Jean-Guy Trudel made the score 4-2 with another power play goal at 16:06 in the third, but the Hogs responded two minutes later with a man-advantage goal from Mike Blunden and assists from Fletcher and Versteeg.

Mike Brodeur finished with 20 saves and moves to 2-2-0-0 on the season with the loss. Marek Schwarz had 28 saves. The IceHogs went 2-for-8 on the power play. The Rivermen finished 3-for-6.

Next Home Game: Wednesday, March 5 vs. Peoria Rivermen. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. For the second straight game Rockford and Peoria meet at the Rockford MetroCentre. The game is the seventh of eight on the regular season. Wednesday’s contest is presented by Crown Royal.
