Rockford wins second straight over Milwaukee, the two teams clash again Wednesday
Rockford, Ill.- As one streak ends, another begins.
Riding high from some late-game heroics on Friday, the Hogs ice the Milwaukee Admirals 2-0 at the Rockford MetroCentre.
The Rockford defense was rolling tonight. Wade Flaherty earned his first shutout of the season on 17 saves while the Admirals couldn't reach double digits in shots in any period. The Admirals' first shot came after 15 minutes of play in the opening frame.
It was Flaherty's 20th career AHL and 31th professional goose egg.
Just 1:31 into the first period, Troy Brouwer put through a Martin St. Pierre pass right in front of the net to put the IceHogs up 1-0. Ryan Stokes was also credited with an assist.
In the second, Derek Nesbitt picked up a pass from St. Pierre and put it past Pekka Rinne to make the score 2-0 at 6:50 in the second. Petri Kontiola also had a helper.
Rinne made 20 saves in his 22nd loss of the season.
The Admirals finished 0-for-8 on the power play, while Rockford was 0-for-4.
