Week 1 Recap
Just one game was slated for the Rockford IceHogs during Week 1 of the 2009-10 American Hockey League regular season. The IceHogs picked up a point after falling 3-2 in overtime to the West Division rival Peoria Rivermen at Carver Arena. Rockford continues their road binge during Week 2 with three road tilts scheduled against North Division foes.

Rockford lost their first regular season overtime game on Sunday since a 3-2 overtime loss to the Manitoba Moose on Feb. 7, 2008, a stretch of 108 regular season games

Joe Fallon made his first career AHL start against Peoria on Sunday

Maxime Tanguay and Simon Danis-Pepin both made their professional debut against Peoria

Sunday’s game marked the first season opener in Rockford’s 11 seasons that went to overtime

Dating back to the 2008-09 season, Rockford and Peoria have played four straight overtime/shootout games

Defenseman David Phillips became the first ever British-born player to play for the IceHogs

Peoria defenseman Jonas Junland has 15 career AHL goals and six of them are against Rockford including two in Sunday’s season opener

Winger Danny Bois chipped a multi-point game in his IceHogs debut on Sunday. Bois had five multi-point games with Binghamton last season.

Hot Hog Week 1:

In Rockford’s only game during Week 1 of the 2009-10 American Hockey League regular season, winger Derek Nesbitt found the score sheet twice. Nesbitt assisted on the IceHogs first goal against Peoria on Sunday and tallied the second marker in Rockford’s 3-2 overtime loss against the Rivermen. Nesbitt also led all IceHogs skaters with six shots on goal.

Upcoming Games:

Friday, Oct. 9 at Hamilton Bulldogs: The Hogs and Dogs match-up at 6:30 p.m. Rockford heads back to Hamilton for the first time in nearly two years. The game is Hamilton’s home opener and the contest is the first of two contests scheduled between the two clubs.

Saturday, Oct. 10 at Lake Erie Monsters:
Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m. For the second straight night, Rockford is the opponent of a team opening their regular season home debut. Rockford and Lake Erie will meet six times overall in 2009-10 including three times at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Sunday, Oct. 11 at Toronto Marlies: The game starts at 3 p.m.The IceHogs conclude a three game road trip back in Ontario at the Ricoh Coliseum against the Marlies. The IceHogs are 4-0-0-0 all-time against Toronto and Sunday’s game is the only contest in Toronto in ‘09-10 for Rockford.

Hog Talk Returns Tonight At Cousin’s Bar and Grill:
Bud Light Hog Talk returns tonight at Cousin’s Bar and Grill. Join Jim Stone from 6-7 p.m. at Cousin’s as he chats IceHogs hockey with Hogs Head Coach Bill Peters. Tonight’s show will also feature forwards Mark Cullen and Derek Nesbitt. Stop out to Cousin’s, located on the corner of East State St. and Perryville in Rockford, and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials. If you can’t make it out to Cousin’s, tune into 1330 AM, WNTA.
