Ice Hogs Primary Logo
San Antonio, Tex. – Scoring first and last in regulation was not enough for the Rockford IceHogs as they fell 3-2 in overtime against the San Antonio Rampage on Sunday afternoon at the AT&T Center.
With just 14.9 seconds left in the sudden-death period, Rocco Grimaldi took a feed from J.T. Compher and blasted a wide-open shot from the slot past Jeff Glass to push the Rampage past the IceHogs.
Gustav Forsling started off the scoring with his first goal in an IceHogs uniform. Forsling took a pass from Sam Carrick and snapped a shot into the back of the net, beating former IceHogs netminder Kent Simpson at 12:16 of the frame.
San Antonio took a 2-1 lead in the second period with goals from Jim O'Brien and Gary Nunn, both on quick breaks that led to shots from the right circle. Rockford answered to even the scoring at 2-2 before the end of the frame on a highlight reel goal. Brandon Mashinter was able to complete a toe-drag to open up ice on the right side, deked Simpson down to the ice, and then fed a backhand feed that Sam Carrick one-timed into the gaping net.
Kyle Baun notched two assists in the overtime loss.
