Rookie winger tallies three points against Rockford

Peoria, Ill.- Tyler Shattock was held without a point in his first 10 games of the 2010-11 season. That all changed on Sunday as the rookie winger led the Peoria Rivermen to a 5-1 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Sunday at Carver Arena as he tallied a goal and two assists.

Peoria notched the game’s first goal at 3:11 of the first period. Anthon Nigro beat Alec Richards with a shot from on top of the right face-off circle in the Rockford zone for his first goal of the season. Shattock found Nigro streaking into the IceHogs zone and the winger surprised Richards with his first marker of the year.

Later in the period Stefan Della Rovere knocked a Shattock rebound past Richards at 16:02 to extend the Rivermen lead to 2-0.

Rockford reduced the Peoria lead before the first intermission when Hugh Jessiman notched his first goal of the season. Rob Klinkhammer found Jessiman on the left post and the winger beat Jake Allen at 18:19.

In the second period Peoria tallied on the power play to extend their lead to 3-1. Mark Cundari held in an IceHogs clear-out pass and slapped his second goal of the season past Richards at 10:16 of the middle stanza.

The power play put Peoria on top 4-1 in the third period. T.J. Hensick picked up a puck off the back half-wall from a Derek Peltier shot and knocked in his fourth goal of the campaign at 10:34. Shattock finished off the scoring when he potted his first goal of the campaign off of a Hensick pass at 19:20 of the third.

Rockford outshot Peoria 32-24 in the game, but Allen was too much in goal and picked up his third straight win. Richards was tagged with the loss after making 19 saves.

: Tuesday, Nov. 9 vs. Peoria Rivermen. The game starts at 6:35 p.m. The back-end of a home-and-home series with Peoria at the Rockford MetroCentre. The visit by the Rivermen is the first of five on the season to Rockford.
