Hogs and Stars clash at the MetroCentre

Rockford, Ill.- The 2007-08 American Hockey League regular season comes to an end today and the Rockford IceHogs will fulfill its portion of the schedule against the Iowa Stars at the Rockford MetroCentre. Game time today is 4:05 p.m.

With a win today, the IceHogs will lock up second place in the West Division and home-ice advantage for next week’s first round of the Calder Cup Playoffs. Regardless of what happens, Rockford will take on the winner of the Houston Aeros-Milwaukee Admirals tilt in Houston. If Rockford falls to Iowa today, the club would start the postseason in either Houston or Milwaukee.

Rockford has had success against Iowa this season, but it hasn’t come easy. Rockford is 5-2-0-0 including 2-1-0-0 at the MetroCentre, but the last four games in the season series have been decided by just one-goal.

Petri Kontiola, who is currently riding a 10-game point streak, leads Rockford in scoring against Iowa with 12 points in seven games.

The first 2,000 fans to the game will pick up an IceHogs Team Photo from Johnson Press. The first 1,000 adults 21-and-older will receive an IceHogs Pint Glass from Bud Light. For tickets to the game, call (815) 968-5222, on the web at www.centreevents.com or at the MetroCentre Box Office.

To listen to today’s game, tune into 1330 AM WNTA, 1380 AM WTJK or on the web by clicking here. The game can also be viewed through the B2 Networks on-line for just $6 or in Rockford on Comcast Cable channel-57.
