Preparations for the 2009 Compuware NHL Premiere series in Stockholm and Helsinki are in full swing and Wednesday the NHL named the referees and linesmen that will be officiating the four games involving Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago and Florida on Oct. 2-3.
Referees Dan Marouelli and Brad Watson will be joined on the ice by linesmen Scott Driscoll and Tim Nowak during the two games in Helsinki's Hartwall Arena between the Blackhawks and Panthers.
Greg Kimmerly and Bill McCreary will be the refs and Shane Heyer and Lyle Seitz the linesmen in Stockholm's Globe Arena for the two games between the Red Wings and Blues.
This is the third-straight season the NHL is taking its brand overseas for regular season games. Los Angeles and Anaheim opened the 2007-08 season in London. The Premiere expanded to four teams last season when the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay played in Prague and the Pittsburgh Penguins and Ottawa Senators squared off in Stockholm.
