RAANTA NAMED NHL CO-ROOKIE OF THE MONTH

Rockford, Ill. – The National Hockey League announced on Friday that Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Antti Raanta was named a Co-Rookie of the Month for December.

Raanta, 24, posted an 8-1-3 record in 12 appearances during the month of December, along with a 2.23 goals against average, .912 save percentage and one shutout, to earn the nomination, along with Los Angeles Kings goaltender Martin Jones.

The Rauma, Finland native began the season with the IceHogs before being recalled to Chicago on Nov. 16. In 14 games with the IceHogs, Raanta compiled a 7-5-0 record to go with his 2.83 goals against average and .914 save percentage.

Raanta made his NHL debut in relief of Corey Crawford on Nov. 19 before registering his first win in a 20 save performance against the Calgary Flames on Nov. 27. The puckstopper closed out the month of December with his first career NHL shutout on Dec. 30 against the Kings.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Jan. 4 vs. Grand Rapids. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m. This will be game two of the three game weekend set against Midwest Division foes for the IceHogs.
