Pelletier Reassigned, Wisniewski Loaned To Rockford
The Chicago Blackhawks have sent defenseman James Wisniewski (6-0, 207) to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs on long-term injury exception conditioning loan. In addition, the Blackhawks have reassigned left wing Pascal Pelletier to the IceHogs.
Wisniewski, 24, has not appeared in any games with the Blackhawks this season while recovering from a knee injury sustained during the offseason. Last season, he led Blackhawks defensemen and ranked second overall on the squad with a career-high 103 penalty minutes, while registering career bests with seven goals, 19 assists and 26 points in 68 matchups. The Canton, Michigan, native has appeared in 137 games over the last three seasons with Chicago, racking up 43 points (11G, 32A) and 178 penalty minutes.
Pelletier was held scoreless in 9:02 of action on Wednesday during his Blackhawks debut and seventh career NHL game. The 25-year-old forward leads Rockford with 13 goals and ranks second with 21 points in 23 AHL games this season. He was acquired by the Blackhawks from the Boston Bruins in exchange for center Martin St. Pierre on July 24, 2008.
