PELLETIER PROPELS HOGS TO 5-3 COME-FROM-BEHIND THRILLER OVER RAMPAGE
ROCKFORD, Ill – Will Pelletier scored two goals within 13 seconds and both Dylan Sikura and Andreas Martinsen followed with third-period tallies of their own to pilot the Rockford IceHogs to a 5-3 come-from-behind win over the San Antonio Rampage Tuesday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
Pelletier blasted a shot from the left point with the IceHogs trailing two goals in the third period to cut Rockford’s deficit in half with 13:48 remaining in the game. The second-year IceHogs forward completed the two-goal comeback just 13 seconds later when he fired a shot on Jared Coreau and backhanded his rebound past the netminder to tie the IceHogs and Rampage at 3-3.
Eleven minutes later, Dylan Sikura lit the lamp for the second time of the contest with a well-placed shot that beat Coreau glove-side. Sikura finished with two goals on five shots and now has 10 points (4g, 6a) over his last nine AHL contests with Rockford.
Martinsen padded the lead to make it 5-3 with the final marker of the contest. He redirected a pass from Brandon Hagel into Coreau, and in an off-balanced attempt at a put back, flicked the puck into the back of the net.
Peter Holland (2a), Henri Jokiharju (2a), Pelletier (2g) and Sikura (2g) each finished with multi-point efforts in the win.
With five games remaining in the regular season, Rockford is one point in back of Manitoba, Milwaukee and Texas for the final playoff berth in the Central Division.
