Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Chicago Blackhawks, announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward William Pelletier on a one-year AHL contract.
Pelletier, 24, tallied seven points (3g-4a) in eight AHL games with the IceHogs last season. He originally signed an ATO (amateur tryout contract) with Rockford on March 30 before producing the team’s first and only four-point game of the 2016-17 season with a pair of goals and assists April 1 vs. Grand Rapids.
Prior to his professional debut, the Quebec City native helped lead the Norwich Cadets to an NCAA Division III National Championship with 18g-28a-46pts in 23 games as an alternate captain in 2016-17. He paced the team and ranked fourth in the nation in points, and finished tied for sixth among all skaters in assists for the regular season. The winger was then named the Most Valuable Player of the Frozen Four tournament while leading Norwich its fourth National title.
Pelletier concluded his four-year collegiate career with 53g-73a-126pts in 83 games with the Cadets. His standout efforts also included honors as the NCAA III East Player of the Year (Eastern College Athletic Conference) during his sophomore season (39 points, 41 games) in 2014-15.
