PACKED BMO CAPS OFF HOGS 2016-17 SEASON
Rockford, Ill. – Pierre-Cedric Labrie and William Pelletier combined for two third-period goals but it wasn’t enough as the Rockford IceHogs fell to the Iowa Wild, 5-2, Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 6,398 in the 2016-17 season finale at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
For the IceHogs, the sellout marked their sixth of the campaign.
Labrie tallied his first goal of the season when he beat Iowa goalie Steve Michalek on the breakaway at 5:39 in the final period to cut Rockford’s deficit to 5-1. William Pelletier added his third goal of the campaign and seventh point in his eighth AHL game at 12:11 in the final period.
Gerald Mayhew scored the first two Iowa goals and Luke Kunin tallied his fifth goal of the season in a three-goal first period outburst for the Wild.
Kurtis Gabriel and Dmitry Sokolov extended Iowa’s lead to 5-0 with two goals in an 18 second span to start the middle frame.
