Owen Flores Shines in Debut, Hogs Fall 3-2 in a Shootout

Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs earned a point in a 3-2 shootout loss to the Manitoba Moose on Saturday night inside the BMO Center.
The Moose struck first two minutes into the game on a two-on-one rush. Parker Ford beat Rockford's Owen Flores upstairs for the early 1-0 Moose lead.
Late in the 2nd period, the Hogs faced a four-minute penalty kill and the Rockford defense rose to the occasion. While shorthanded, Dominic Toninato fed Jamie Engelbert who scored off his own rebound to tie the game 1-1.
The game turned physical before the middle period horn. Dillon Boucher and Tyrel Bauer fought for the second time this season, bringing the BMO Center to its feet.
Rockford started the 3rd period on two straight power plays and converted for its first lead of the night. Cavan Fitzgerald threaded a pass to Rem Pitlick who scored in the final frame for the second-straight night.
The Moose tied the game about four minutes to go on a shorthanded blast from Walker Duehr.
After a scoreless overtime period, Ville Heinola scored the lone goal in the shootout to give the Moose a 3-2 win.
