Des Moines, IA - The Rockford IceHogs stomped the Iowa Wild 6-2 on Sunday night inside the Casey's Center. Stanislav Berezhnoy earned his first win in an IceHogs uniform and Oliver Moore scored his first two professional goals.
The Hogs jumped over the Wild early and often in the 1st period, making life difficult for Iowa goaltender Samuel Hlavaj. At 9:28, Dillon Boucher notched his first AHL goal with a skilled spin move in-tight by the right post.
Five minutes later, Rockford doubled the advantage with Moore's first professional goal. Brett Seney sprung the rookie through the neutral zone and Moore sniped the puck into the top corner. Now up 2-0, Jamie Englebert potted his first in the Rockford red banging in a rebound in the crease.
Moore extended the IceHogs' advantage midway through the 2nd period. The speedy forward used a 3-on-1 rush to his advantage and beat Hlavaj again from the near wing. IceHogs goaltender Berezhnoy earned his first AHL point with an assist on the play.
The Wild got on the board and cut the deficit to 4-1 with a Tyler Pitlick tally while the team's were skating 4-on-4. Connor Mylymok capped off an excellent from Rockford's 4th line and shoved in his first goal in the AHL off a rebound try at the end of the middle period.
In the 3rd, Pitlick got a goal back again for the Wild, bringing Iowa back to 5-2. After earning a power play late in the game, Dominic Toninato grabbed his first as an IceHog off a Nick Lardis cross-zone pass. Lards earned his first professional point with the assist.
Berezhnoy held down the fort for his first AHL win, while making 29 saves.
