OLIMB ACTIVATED FROM IR, LOANED TO ROCKFORD

Winger to make IceHogs debut tonight

Chicago, Ill.-The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Wednesday that the National Hockey League club has activated winger Mathis Olimb from the Injured Reserve and loaned him to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Olimb, 24, is expected to make his AHL and North American debut tonight with Rockford when they take on the Lake Erie Monsters at 6:35 p.m. at the Rockford MetroCentre.

The Oslo, Norway native skated with Frolunda in the Swedish Elite League last season and appeared in 55 games while amassing 9g-25-34pts. The 5-10 winger also represented Norway in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. In four games in Vancouver, Olimb marked a pair of assists.

Following his campaign in Frolunda, Olimb rejoined the Norwegian National Team for the World Championships. In six games at the World Championships, Olimb totaled a goal and three assists.

The undrafted winger signed a one-year entry-level contract with the Blackhawks on June 15, 2010.
