Cleveland, Oh. – The Rockford IceHogs opened scoring for a league-leading sixth straight game on Friday night at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, but a seven-goal effort from the Cleveland Monsters proved too much for the Hogs to overcome.
Tyler Sikura got the IceHogs on the board 9:52 into the first period with help from his younger brother, Dylan. Dylan shot a puck from the left wall that fell in front of Monsters netminder, Matiss Kivlenieks, and Tyler spun away from a defender to hammer the loose puck into the open cage.
It was all Monsters after that, though, as the host team notched four goals in the first, two in the second and one in the third to run away with the contest. Forwards Calvin Thurkauf and Ryan MacInnis led the charge for the Monsters with three points apiece while Kivlenieks stopped 23 of 24 IceHogs shots.
On the other side, Dylan Sikura extended his second point streak of the season to three games and, together, the Sikura brothers have combined for half of the club’s 12 goals this season.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Oct. 30 vs. San Antonio Rampage | 7 p.m.
