NOVAK AND TRASK RELEASED FROM PTO

Rockford, Ill. – Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday that the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs have released forwards Travis Novak and Jake Trask from their Professional Try Out (PTO).

Both players are expected to report to the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL.

Novak, 24, made his AHL debut last season In Rockford while skating with the Hamilton Bulldogs on March 20, 2012. In eight games with the Bulldogs, Novak notched a goal and two assists.

Prior to turning pro, the Lethbridge, Alberta native skated four seasons with St. Cloud State and registered 34 goals with 37 assists in 143 contests.

Trask, 21, has spent the last four seasons in the WHL skating with the Saskatoon Blades (2010-12) and Kamloops Blazers (2008-11). Trask has tallied 76 goals and 85 assists in 266 career WHL games.

Rockford’s training camp roster now stands at 32 skaters, including 19 forwards, nine defensemen and four goalies.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Oct. 20 vs. Charlotte Checkers. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs open the home portion of their regular season slate against the Checkers at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The first 5,000 fans to the game will pick up an IceHogs “It All Starts Here” calendar.
