Evanston, Illinois – September 24, 2009 – NorthShore University HealthSystem (NorthShore) and the Chicago Blackhawks today announced a five-year agreement establishing NorthShore as the “Official Healthcare Partner of the Chicago Blackhawks.” The multi-faceted agreement, effective immediately, creates a unique partnership between two renowned organizations that share a vision to extend their reach into the Chicagoland region.
“In remarkable time, the Chicago Blackhawks have re-established themselves as a premier sports franchise in this region,” said Jeffrey H. Hillebrand, Chief Operating Officer at NorthShore. “The timing is right to align the NorthShore brand with an organization that shares the same passion for Chicago and commitment to the community we serve.” The partnership includes NorthShore’s active participation and presence at the United Center, on television and radio broadcasts, on the team’s website and in mailings. Other elements include player appearances and a separate stepped-up philanthropic partnership with Chicago Blackhawk Charities involving community-based events and programs.
“Our professionals, on and off the ice, have worked tirelessly to bring the Chicago Blackhawks back into the forefront of our community and our fans. We are proud to have NorthShore University HealthSystem as our newest partner in that effort,” said John McDonough, Chicago Blackhawks Team President. “NorthShore shares our values of service, professionalism, and a commitment to grow in our respective marketplaces.”
This is the second high-profile partnership NorthShore has with a professional sports franchise in Chicago. In July, NorthShore announced it signed a first-ever agreement with the Chicago Bears to be the team’s official healthcare partner.
