Nineteen IceHogs Open Camp With Hawks

ROCKFORD, Ill. – Nineteen players that suited up with the Rockford IceHogs during the 2018-19 season will be vying for their spot with the big club when the Chicago Blackhawks kick off their training camp this morning at Fifth Third Arena in Chicago.

Three of the five top scorers for the IceHogs, including Dylan Sikura (17 goals, 35 points), Lucas Carlsson (9 goals, 33 points) and Jacob Nilsson (15 goals, 32 points) are featured on the 55-man Blackhawks training camp roster. Overall, a total of 25 former IceHogs players will take the ice for camp.

Forwards Alexandre Fortin, Brandon Hagel, Matthew Highmore, Reese Johnson, Graham Knott, Philipp Kurashev, Dylan McLaughlin, Nathan Noel and Tyler Sikura, defensemen Carl Dahlstrom, Dennis Gilbert, Chad Krys and Joni Tuulola and goaltenders Collin Delia, Kevin Lankinen and Matt Tomkins also appeared alongside Sikura, Carlsson and Nilsson with the IceHogs last season. Additional IceHogs alumni skating with the Blackhawks this week include Corey Crawford, Erik Gustafsson, David Kampf, Brandon Saad, Andrew Shaw and Kris Versteeg.

Fans will have the chance to see the first scrimmage of camp at 11 a.m. on Sunday at United Center when the Blackhawks host their annual Training Camp Festival. General Admission tickets can be found on Blackhawks.com for $5 and the first 10,000 ticket holders to enter the building will receive a Patrick Kane bobblehead.

The IceHogs will begin training camp of their own on Sunday, Sep. 22, at BMO Harris Bank Center. The team’s season opener is slated for 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, on the road against the Iowa Wild.

The Rockford IceHogs will host their home opener for the 2019-20 season on Saturday, Oct. 12 against the Grand Rapids Griffins at 6 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
