NIGHTINGALE NAMED ICEHOGS TEAM CAPTAIN
Veteran is named eighth captain in team history
Rockford, Ill.- Rockford IceHogs Head Coach Ted Dent has named defenseman Jared Nightingale the eighth captain in team history, he announced on Tuesday.
The veteran is currently skating in his first season with the IceHogs and ninth overall in the pro ranks. Entering Week 15 of the 2013-14 American Hockey League regular season, Nightingale has participated in 473 career professional games, notching 76 points (18g-58a).
The Cheboygan, Michigan native currently has four points, including one goal and three assists, in 39 games for the IceHogs.
Nightingale has also appeared in 156 NCAA games with Michigan State University where he notched 23 points (2g-21a) in his four years with the Spartans.
Previous IceHogs captains during the team’s AHL era include Jim Fahey (2007-08), Tim Brent (2008-09), Jake Dowell (2009-10), Garnet Exelby (2010-11), Brandon Segal (2011-12), Brian Fahey (2011-12) and Martin St. Pierre (2012-13).
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Jan. 15 against Abbotsford Heat at 11 a.m. The BMO will host a School Day Game where kids from all of Rockford’s Middle Schools will come out to support the Hogs. The game is for all the kids who finished their workbook put out by the IceHogs to incorporate hockey into making learning fun.
