Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced on Thursday that the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League have reassigned right wing Derek Nesbitt to the Toledo Walleye (ECHL).
Additionally, left wing Kyle Hagel has been released from his professional try-out agreement with Rockford.
Nesbitt has skated in 23 games for the IceHogs, recording four goals and one assist. In 36 games with Toledo this season, Nesbitt has notched 11 goals and 22 assists.
The Egmondville, Ontario native has tallied 291 points (105g-176a) in 322 career professional games between the ECHL’s Gwinnett Gladiators (2005-06, 2007-08), Idaho Steelheads (2006-07) and Toledo (2009-10) as well as the AHL’s IceHogs (2007-08, 2009-10), Manitoba Moose (2008-09) and San Antonio Rampage (2008-09)
Hagel has been held without a point in nine games with the IceHogs. He has posted 36 penalty minutes in his second stint in the AHL. The Hamilton, Ontario native will return to the Las Vegas Wranglers (ECHL), where he has posted seven goals, seven assists and 75 penalty minutes in 40 games during the campaign.
In 90 career professional games, the second-year pro has 14 goals, 13 assists and 259 penalty minutes between the ECHL’s Fresno Falcons (2008-09), Reading Royals (2008-09) and Las Vegas (2009-10) as well as the AHL’s IceHogs (2009-10) and Rochester Americans (2008-09).
