Chicago, Ill-The Chicago Blackhawks announced on Friday that the National Hockey League club has recalled forward Jeremy Morin from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Rockford has reassigned goaltender Joe Palmer to the Toledo Walleye.
Morin receives his fourth recall of the season. In six games with Chicago the 19-year-old center has a goal and an assist. In 17 games with Rockford, Morin has six goals to go along with three assists.The Auburn, New York native was named to the U.S. National Team’s World Junior Championship pre-tournament team on Tuesday.
Chicago has recalled seven different players from the IceHogs including Morin, Evan Brophey, Jassen Cullimore, Brandon Pirri, Ryan Potulny, Ben Smith and Rob Klinkhammer. Chicago plays the San Jose Sharks Saturday night at the HP Pavillion.
Palmer was recalled on Friday and served as a back up to Hannu Toivonen in Rockford's 4-3 shootout loss to the Milwaukee Admirals. The 22 year-old has appeared in eight games for the Walleye with a record of 3-5-0-0. The Yorkville, New York, native shows a 3.49 goals against average and a .880 save percentage on the campaign.
The puck stopper spent the 2009-10 season with the Texas Brahmas (CHL). Palmer appeared in 32 contests, finishing the season 13-10-4 with 2.75 GAA and a .914 save percentage.
