The Blackhawks celebrated the holidays at Mayor Daley’s Holiday Sports Festival this past weekend. An event dedicated to showcasing all the different types of sports, children of all ages stopped by the Blackhawks Interactive Zone to practice their hockey skills and support the team.

A Slap Shot Inflatable allowed children to practice shooting against a life-size goalie. Accuracy shooting and Slap Shot speed contests were held, awarding the winners with autographed memorabilia and team merchandise. Children patiently waited in a long line to try their hand at the sport and see how many goals they could score.

The Blackhawks Voting Station was present, where fans stood in line to vote their favorite Blackhawks into the All Star game. Vote Blackhawks items, such as Posters, Stickers, and souvenir puck cards were available for people to take and proudly display. Other giveaways included team calendars, magnetic schedules, Blackhawks magazines, mini-sticks, and winter gloves. All items were free for fans to take and enjoy.

Chicago Blackhawks Charities was also present, promoting the Magic Uniform and Tommy Hawks Kids Club. Fans were able to purchase the book and enroll in the kid’s club. All proceeds benefited Blackhawks Charities.

Tommy Hawk made several appearances throughout the weekend, including a Mascot Meet-and Greet, where Mascots from several sports teams gathered at once for fans to meet, and autograph sessions.

Overall, it was a chance for the Chicago-land area to experience hockey and be introduced to, or celebrate with, the Chicago Blackhawks.
