MATTSON RETURNED ON LOAN TO INDY
Rockford, Il. – The Rockford IceHogs announced today that they have returned defenseman Nick Mattson on loan to the ECHL’s Indy Fuel.
Mattson made his AHL debut with the IceHogs on October 30 against Iowa, and has played in two games for Rockford. The blueliner from Chanhassen, Minnesota has earned four penalty minutes and a +2 rating in five games with Indy.
At the University of North Dakota, Mattson was part of teams that advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. He played in 153 games for North Dakota, scoring 17 goals in addition to 61 assists. The defenseman was drafted in the 6th Round (#180 overall) by Chicago in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
In 2008-09, Mattson won a gold medal for the United States at the IIHF World U18 Championships. Mattson also played two seasons (2009-11) for the Indiana Ice, where he was named the USHL Defenseman of the Year while leading all defensemen with a +33 rating in 2010-11.
