MATTSON ASSIGNED TO FUEL
Rockford, Ill. - The Rockford IceHogs have assigned defenseman Nick Mattson to their ECHL affiliate, the Indy Fuel.
Mattson has appeared in three games with the IceHogs this season, inclulding making his AHL debut on October 30 against Iowa. He has collected six assists and a +5 rating in 29 games with Indy.
The Chanhassen, Minnesota, native advanced to the NCAA Frozen Four with the University of North Dakota in both the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, and totaled17 goals in addition to 61 assists in 153 games. The defenseman was drafted in the sixth Round (#180 overall) by Chicago in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
In 2008-09, the blueliner won a gold medal for the United States at the IIHF World U18 Championships. Mattson also played two seasons (2009-11) for the Indiana Ice, where he was named the USHL Defenseman of the Year and led all league defensemen with a +33 rating in 2010-11.
