MATTSON AGREES TO AHL DEAL WITH ROCKFORD
Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs announced Tuesday that they have agreed to terms with defenseman Nick Mattson on a one-year American Hockey League contract for the 2015-16 season.
Mattson, 23, spent the last four years with the University of North Dakota. The Minnesota native skated in 153 career games with UND, recording a total of 78 points (17g-61a). He helped North Dakota to the Frozen Four in 2014-15 and a Penrose Cup as the Northern Collegiate Hockey League regular season champions.
Prior to playing hockey collegiately, Mattson suited up with the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League. In the 2010-11 season with the Ice, he accumulated a total of 36 points (6g-30a) in 57 games played.
Mattson was originally selected by the Chicago Blackhawks in the sixth round (#180 overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
