MARR AND MAGERS RECALLED TO ROCKFORD
Rockford adds help for weekend set in Lake Erie
Cleveland, Ohio- Rockford IceHogs General Manager of Hockey Operations Al MacIsaac announced on Friday that the American Hockey League club has recalled defenseman Steve Marr from the Pensacola Ice Pilots and is expected to sign goaltender Marty Magers to a Professional Try Out agreement.
Marr returns to Rockford after playing in seven games with the IceHogs earlier this season. With the Hogs, the steady d-man has four minutes of penalty time. Marr skated in six games with Rockford’s ECHL affiliate in Pensacola. The re-call is the second of the season for Marr who was in training camp with Rockford in September.
On Wednesday night, IceHogs defenseman Jerramie Domish sustained a wrist injury that will keep him out of Rockford’s line-up for at least this weekend. Also, d-man Cam Barker left the Hogs contest on Wednesday against the Syracuse Crunch with an undisclosed injury and is expected to be a game-time decision for tonight’s game against the Lake Erie Monsters.
Magers is expected to sign with Rockford in time for tonight’s game with the Lake Erie. Hogs goaltender Wade Flaherty tweaked a lower body injury in Friday morning’s pre-game skate in preparation for tonight’s contest against the Monsters.
Like Marr, Magers attended IceHogs training camp this fall. Magers is currently playing with the Port Huron Icehawks (IHL). With Port Huron, Magers has a 4-3-0 record with a 2.84 goals against average and a .909 save percentage for the first place Icehawks. Magers was named the IHL’s Goalie of the Week last week.
