Right wing and four-time National Hockey League All Star Marian Hossa will make his Chicago Blackhawks debut tonight, November 25, when the team matches up against the San Jose Sharks at HP Pavilion at 9:30 P.M. (CT). The game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet and heard on Chicago’s WGN Radio 720.
Hossa, who signed a 12-year contract with the Blackhawks on July 1, has registered 719 points (339G, 380A) in 775 career regular-season NHL games over 11 seasons with the Ottawa Senators (1997-2004), Atlanta Thrashers (2005-08), Pittsburgh Penguins (2007-08) and Detroit Red Wings (2008-09). The 30-year-old forward has also appeared in 98 career Stanley Cup Playoff games (31G, 45A), which includes reaching the Finals in each of the last two seasons.
The Trencin, Slovakia native led Detroit in goals (40) and finished third in points (71) during the 2008-09 regular-season before chipping in 15 points (6G, 9A) while appearing in all 23 of the team’s postseason tilts. Hossa has missed Chicago’s first 22 regular-season contests while recovering from off-season shoulder surgery.
The Blackhawks look to earn their eighth win in a row on Wednesday in San Jose, which includes posting a perfect 3-0-0 mark on the current six-game road trip. Chicago has outscored its opponents, 27-11, during the streak which is two victories shy of matching the franchise record set during the 2008-09 season. The Blackhawks’ 32 points (15-5-2) are currently tied for the second-most in the NHL, just four behind San Jose, which has played three more games.
Chicago completes its road trip against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday at 3:00 P.M. (Comcast SportsNet/Chicago’s WGN Radio) and the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday at 9:30 P.M. (WGN-TV/Chicago’s WGN Radio). All times listed are Central.
