Winnipeg, Manitoba – Kyle Baun scored the lone goal in regulation and Anthony Louis put home the shootout winner in his first professional game as the Rockford IceHogs earned a 2-1 shootout win over the Manitoba Moose at the MTS Centre on Friday night.
After two rounds of shooters, goaltender Jeff Glass turned aside Chase De Leo to set the stage for Louis. The rookie forward skated through the slot and stickhandled past Manitoba goaltender Jamie Phillips before firing a shot under the crossbar to seal the win.
With the two teams scoreless entering the third, Baun took sole possession of the team lead in goals (13) at 1:04 of the frame. Tyler Motte made a strong defensive play and then rang a shot off the goalpost before Baun buried the rebound to snap the scoreless tie.
Chase De Leo evened the matchup just over 10 minutes later, striking on a wrister from the top of the slot to force the extra frame.
Glass collected the win in his first shootout appearance for Rockford, and finished the game with 37 saves before slamming the door on three shootout attempts.
