LEDDY RECALLED TO THE BLACKHAWKS

Rockford, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled defenseman Nick Leddy from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Leddy, 19, won the bronze medal with Team USA at the 2011 World Junior Championships in Buffalo, New York, earlier this week, collecting two assists and a +1 plus/minus rating in five contests. The blueliner has recorded one goal in six NHL contests with the Blackhawks and ten points (2G, 8A) in 22 AHL tilts with Rockford this season in his professional debut.

Originally chosen with the 16th overall selection of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft by the Minnesota Wild, Leddy was acquired by the Blackhawks in a trade on Feb. 12, 2010. The Eden Prairie, Minnesota, native, and 2009 Mr. Hockey Award winner in the state, ranked second among team freshmen with 11 points (3G,8A) and posted a +6 plus/minus rating in 30 games in his inaugural season at the University of Minnesota (WCHA) in 2009-10.

Next Home Game: Friday, Jan. 7 vs. the Toronto Marlies. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. Rockford returns home for the first time in 2011 for their annual home tilt against Toronto. The game is the first of two on the campaign with the Marlies.
