Kevin Korchinski Named AHL All-Star MVP

Coachella Valley, CA - IceHogs forward Cole Guttman and defenseman Kevin Korchinski represented Rockford this week at the AHL All-Star Classic in Coachella Valley. Guttman was selected in replacement of Frank Nazar who is playing with the Blackhawks, while Korchinski replaced Stars' defenseman Lian Bichsel for the Central Division.

The two were key pieces of the Central Division and went on to win the round robin tournament with a 3-1 record, earning wins against the Pacific and the Atlantic twice. In the Championship game against the Atlantic Division, the Central were victorious in a shootout 2-1 to lock up the trophy.

Guttman scored a goal, while Korchinski recorded one goal and three assists along with a shootout goal in the championship game. The Hogs’ defenseman was named the AHL All-Star Classic MVP for his efforts which helped the Central Division lock up the title for the first time since 2017.

Rockford now heads south to Texas for two meetings with the Stars. The puck drops on Friday, Feb. 7 at 7:00 PM CT.
