KAMENEV GUIDES ADS PAST HOGS, 3-1
MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Vladislav Kamenev scored a breakaway goal late in the second period to give the Milwaukee Admirals a lead they would not relinquish, as they dropped the Rockford IceHogs 3-1 at UW-Panther Arena Friday night. Rockford held Milwaukee without a shot for more than 15 minutes of the final frame, but failed to score at the other end.
Kamenev’s go-ahead goal came late in the second period, and goaltender Anders Lindback stonewalled the Hogs for the remainder of the game, totaling 32 saves on the night. Rockford’s J.F. Berube stopped 23 pucks at the other end.
The Admirals first found the scoresheet with two minutes remaining in the opening period, thanks to Harry Zolnierczyk’s fifth tally of the season. Zolnierczyk walked in on a partial breakaway and outwaited Berube to start the scoring.
Rockford tied things up in the second period, with Tyler Sikura potting a rebound at 3:45. Erik Gustafsson's shot from the point took a bounce off of Lindback and went straight to Sikura in the slot for the tying goal. Kamenev's strike came 13 minutes later.
Trevor Murphy added an insurance marker with 2:38 left in the third period to seal the victory for Milwaukee. Rockford has now lost consecutive games for the first time this season, and the Admirals' victory marks the first home win for either team in this season's series.
