JOIN HAMMY IN THE 4TH ANNUAL ROCKFORD MELTFEST 5K �HAMMY HUSTLE�
Rockford, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs will be joining forces with MELTFEST (an annual Rockford community event held the first Saturday in spring) to help celebrate the end of winter and the melting together of the community.
On Saturday, March 25, the IceHogs will be co-sponsoring the 5K run/walk which is just one piece of the day-long celebration. The 4th annual 5K is themed the "Hammy Hustle" and participants will get an opportunity to run/walk a 5K route that takes them over the Morgan Street Bridge, past the new downtown Sports Factory, and THROUGH the BMO Harris Bank Center, next to the ice where the IceHogs play, all while viewing some of Rockford's best landmarks.
All participants will receive a commemorative shirt, be eligible to lay claim to a complimentary ticket for that evening's IceHogs game (7 p.m. vs. Grand Rapids), receive discounts on additional IceHogs game tickets for the game on March 25, plus a few other surprises.
The 5K is just the start to a day-long celebration hosted at the Prairie Street Brewhouse that has a wide range of free activities for attendees to partake in; including: Ice Skating, Trolley Rides (weather permitting), Live Music, Kids Activities, Magic Shows, Science Shows, Mascot and Character Appearances (including HAMMY!), Vendors, Kids Fun Run, Bike Ride, and more.
The Hammy Hustle 5K will start at 10 a.m. with the daylong celebration running until 5 p.m.
A portion of proceeds from this year’s event will be awarded to The Rockford Cosmopolitan Club whose club’s mission is supporting efforts to prevent and find a cure for diabetes, while also supporting the well-being of the local community through charitable donations and volunteer service.
