Veteran center played one game with Rockford

Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliations Mark Bernard announced that center Ryan Johnson has been released from his PTO by the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Johnson was released from his PTO after agreeing to terms with the Blackhawks on a one-year contract. The veteran center signed on in Rockford on Friday, Dec. 10 and appeared in one game with the IceHogs on Wednesday against the Chicago Wolves.

Johnson spent the past two seasons with the Vancouver Canucks (NHL). Last season in 58 games the veteran center amassed a goal and four assists. Johnson also appeared in four Stanley Cup Playoff games with the Canucks.

The Thunder Bay, Ontario native has played in 667 career NHL games with the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning, St. Louis Blues and Canucks. He has also skated in 23 career Stanley Cup Playoff games.

Next Home Game: Friday, Dec. 17 vs. the Chicago Wolves. Game time is slated for 7:05 p.m. The first 1,000 fans into the building will receive the second of six posters in a limited edition series of posters featuring IceHogs players courtesy of Comcast and Medicine Man.
