JOHNSON RECALLED BY CHICAGO
D-man is first recall for Rockford
Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Dale Tallon announced on Monday that the National Hockey League club has recalled defenseman Aaron Johnson from the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League. Johnson is the first IceHogs skater to receive an NHL recall this season.
The Port Hawkesbury, Nova Scotia native appeared in Rockford’s first two regular season games on 2008-09. In the IceHogs season opener on Friday, Johnson chipped in an assist in Rockford’s 4-2 win over the Quad City Flames.
Johnson appeared in 30 games last season with the New York Islanders (NHL) and two with the AHL’s Bridgeport Sound Tigers. In his sixth professional season, Johnson has 146 games on NHL experience, including 116 with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Next Home Game: Friday, Oct. 24 vs. Norfolk Admirals: Game time is 7:30 p.m. The Norfolk Admirals come into the Rockford MetroCentre for the first of two straight against the IceHogs. The weekend set marks the only time during the 2008-09 regular season that the Hogs will face an Eastern Conference team at home.
