Milwaukee, WI – The Rockford IceHogs began preseason play with a 3-2 victory inside UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena over the Milwaukee Admirals.

Despite the IceHogs outshooting Milwaukee 13-4 in the first period, the Admirals struck first. John Fainacci scored a short-handed, unassisted goal in the early stages of the first period to give Milwaukee the early lead. 

The action continued into the second period, where Rockford quickly evened things up with a Tommy Budnick goal on a shot that deflected off Milwaukee goaltender Isak Posch's skate. 

Milwaukee’s John Prokop responded with a goal of his own to give the Admirals the lead shortly after. Milwaukee held that lead for less than three minutes before Jamie Engelbert lasered a slapshot from the left circle to knot the score at 2-2. 

In the third, Rockford nabbed its first lead of the night off an Ashton Cumby snapshot from the right point that found the back of the net. That goal would be the game winner, as the IceHogs held Milwaukee scoreless for the remainder of the game. Rockford wins its first game of the preseason 3-2.
