Hogs announce the team’s marketing campaign

Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs, proud members of the American Hockey League, announced on Wednesday the team’s marketing campaign for the 2009-10 season.

The clubs’ marketing efforts will be focused around the “Make ‘Em See Red” campaign and will be incorporated into television commercials, radio and print ads, the IceHogs official team Web site (www.icehogs.com), giveaway items and other IceHogs print materials.

"In keeping with the tradition of the IceHogs and the great themes they’ve had in the team’s first 10 years,” said IceHogs Team President Mark Bernard. “I believe we are maintaining that history with our newest campaign, ‘Make ‘Em See Red’.


“I’m positive that the fans will really enjoy the different promotions we have planned to go alongside with this year’s campaign. I’m proud of the hard work our staff, in particular Ben Boese, put into developing this theme totally in-house.”

Boese, the IceHogs Corporate Communications Executive and Game Operations Director, spearheaded the campaign including the logo design and concept for this year’s theme.

The IceHogs marketing concept will center around the correlation of the color red, the IceHogs and the game of hockey. Red is the IceHogs primary color. The “Make ‘Em See Red” logo is an edgy image featuring the eyes of the IceHogs primary logo.

Once again, the IceHogs will incorporate fan interaction with this season’s marketing theme. To kick off the campaign, the IceHogs also announced on Wednesday a T-shirt design contest. The contest is open to the public and fans can submit multiple entries. There will be one grand prize winner and the winner’s T-shirt design will be sold at the IceHogs merchandise stand and at Hogs Headquarters inside CherryVale Mall. The winner of the IceHogs T-shirt design contest will also will a pair of 20-game ticket packages, a pair of round trip airline tickets courtesy of Allegiant Air, $25 gift certificate to Hogs Headquarters and five T-shirts in which they designed.

The 2009-10 season marks the IceHogs 11th season of professional hockey in Rockford and third in the American Hockey League as the top affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks. Rockford is coming off a record-setting season in 2008-09 as the club set an all-time attendance record.
