Rockford, Ill. - The second day of Rockford IceHogs training camp was under way at the BMO Harris Bank Center on Monday, as the squad split into two teams and squared off in a Red vs. White scrimmage.
Carter Hutton dressed in red and started in net and Alec Richards started in net for the white squad. Wade Brookbank delivered the first goal of the game as he slipped one by Hutton to give Team White a 1-0 lead heading into the half. Richards finished the first half with a shutout as Mac Carruth came in relief to start the second half for the White Team. Kent Simpson substituted for Hutton and played the second 20 minutes for Team Red.
After a five-minute break, the scrimmage heated up for the second half as Peter LeBlanc scored to give Team White a 2-0 lead. Kyle Beach delivered a power play goal with help from Brandon Bollig’s screen as Team Red cut Team White’s lead in half to 2-1. But a lead-pass from Nick Leddy to Travis Novak for a breakaway goal solidified Team White’s victory in a 3-1 effort.
