IceHogs to Play for Fans’ Loved Ones on Hockey Fights Cancer Night

Stick It to Cancer

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Rockford IceHogs will be honoring those who have fought or are currently battling cancer on Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Nov. 29. For the ‘Stick it to Cancer’ initiative, fans will have the opportunity to put a loved one’s name on an IceHogs player’s stick for Rockford’s game against the Chicago Wolves.

Each IceHogs player will have one stick available for sponsorship. Fans can sponsor sticks through online auctions on the DASH platform, with each auction beginning at $200. Auctions will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13 and conclude at 10 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17. To access DASH, download the IceHogs mobile app or visit the online platform here.

Each fan who wins an auction can submit the name of a loved one who has battled cancer, and that person’s name will be written on the player’s stick they have funded. Additionally, auction winners will be invited to attend IceHogs morning skate at 9:45 a.m. prior to Hockey Fights Cancer Night on Nov. 29 to meet their sponsored player. The players will then use the stick in that night’s game against the Wolves and autograph it following the contest.

Sticks will be available for pickup at the BMO Harris Bank Center beginning Saturday, Nov. 30.

All proceeds from the stick auctions will benefit the SwedishAmerican Foundation.
