ICEHOGS TO FORMALLY INTRODUCE PETERS ON THURSDAY
Fans invited to the Hilton Garden Inn for event
Rockford, Ill.- Chicago Blackhawks General Manager of Minor League Affiliates Mark Bernard announced on Monday that the Rockford IceHogs, members of the American Hockey League, will formally introduce their new head coach, Bill Peters, at a press conference on Thursday, Aug. 21.
The event will be held at the Hilton Garden Inn in Rockford and will begin at 7 p.m. It is free and open to the public. The Hilton Garden Inn is located at 7675 Walton St.
Peters was officially named head coach of the IceHogs on Aug. 1, but has been coaching Team Canada’s Under-18 National Team and led the club to a gold medal in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament in Europe over the weekend. As the head coach of the Spokane Chiefs (WHL) in 2007-08, Peters’ team won the Memorial Cup last spring.
The second head coach in Rockford’s AHL era, Peters takes over a club that finished second in the AHL’s West Division a season ago and bowed out of the Calder Cup Playoffs in Game 7 of the West Division Finals to the eventual Calder Cup Champions, the Chicago Wolves.
Peters takes over the IceHogs post after last season’s bench boss Mike Haviland was promoted to assistant coach with the Blackhawks.
