Loveland, CO - The Rockford IceHogs were upended 5-0 on Friday night against the Colorado Eagles inside Blue Arena.
The Hogs got behind early on their first penalty kill of the game. Just nine seconds into the power play, Colorado's Tristen Nielsen banged in a doorstep pass for a 1-0 lead.
Back on the power play in the 2nd period, Eagles' captain Jason Megna pushed the puck past Drew Commesso at the net front to double the Colorado lead.
At 9:14 of the middle frame, rookie Reilly Connors batted in a loose puck outside of the crease for his first AHL goal and pushed the Colorado advantage to 3-0.
The Eagles tallied once more on the man-advantage again in the 3rd while . Commesso made an impressive initial save, but Jason Polin slammed in the rebound. Taylor Makar would add an empty-net marker with 5:41 remaining to balloon the lead to 5-0 Colorado.
Kyle Keyser picked up the win for the Eagles, making 25 saves in his shutout effort.
Up next, Rockford is in action on Saturday, October 25 with a 8:05 pm puck drop at Blue Arena against the Eagles in Colorado.
