Rockford, IL - The Rockford IceHogs fell 5-3 to the Colorado Eagles on Friday night inside the BMO Center.

Colorado jumped out front at 12:22 of the 1st period with a goal from Jayson Megna. The Eagles' captain let a shot fly from the near boards that found its way through traffic and Rockford's Laurent Brossoit

Megna doubled the Colorado lead with the Eagles on the power play. The forward got in behind the IceHogs defense and snuck in on a breakaway for the 2-0 lead.

Rockford got on the board in the 2nd period with a Samuel Savoie tally. The Hogs forward fed the puck to the blue paint and had it deflect past Colorado's Isak Posch.

After killing off a penalty, the Eagles extended the lead to 3-1 just 1:14 into the 3rd with a Matthew Stienburg wrist shot. Just 40 seconds after the Colorado goal, Savoie scored his second goal of the game off of an Eagles' skate.

Keaton Middleton gave the Eagles more breathing room with a goal from the blue line that pushed the Colorado lead to 4-2. Rockford continued to battle in the 3rd though, with Dmitri Kuzmin breaking through from the far win to cut the lead in half again.

Down a goal with two minutes to go, the Hogs pulled Brossoit for the extra attacker. Megna scored into the empty net for his hat trick goal.

The IceHogs are back home on Saturday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. to host the Colorado Eagles. It's Teddy Bear Toss Night at the BMO Center with tickets available at icehogs.com.
