Cedar Park, TX. - The Rockford IceHogs comeback fell short on Saturday night, 5-2 to the Texas Stars inside the H-E-B Center.

In the opening three minutes Andrew Perrott challenged Connor Punnett and Connor Mylymok took down Kole Lind, settling scores from Friday night. The Hogs killed off four penalty kill minutes following the altercations.

Texas struck first for the second-straight night at 13:26. Stanislav Berezhnoy made the first stop, but Trey Taylor banged in a rebound for the 1-0 lead.

At 11:53 of the 2nd, Texas won an offensive zone face-off and Antonio Stranges skated in behind the Rockford net. He spotted Curtis McKenzie in front who tapped the puck home up high for a 2-0 lead.

Nick Lardis brought the Hogs back within one with five minutes to go in the middle frame. Kevin Korchinski spotted the rookie in the slot and Lardis snapped his shot past the Stars' Remi Poirier.

In the 3rd, the Hogs pushed hard for the equalizer, but it was Jack Becker who found a rebound in the crease to score the first goal of the period and give the Stars' a 3-1 lead.

Rockford pulled the goaltender with under four minutes to go and Nick Lardis scored his second of the game from the left of the net to cut the deficit to 3-2.

Texas would go on to add two empty net goals from Hyry and White for the 5-2 win.

The Hogs are back on home ice on Wednesday, November 26 at 7:00 p.m. It's a "Wet Your Whistle Wednesday" with tickets available at icehogs.com.
